Chlorpheniramine maleate is given by mouth and is used off label in cats, dogs, horses, ferrets, and birds to treat allergic conditions or as a mild sedative. Common side effects include sleepiness, although other side effects are possible.

Chlorothiazide/hydrochlorothiazide is given by mouth or injection and is used off label to treat nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, high blood pressure, fluid retention, and certain electrolyte imbalances in dogs and cats. Give as directed by your veterinarian.

Clomipramine is given by mouth and is used on and off label to treat behavior disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety, aggression, and urine marking. In cats, it is used for urine spraying, and in birds, it is used to treat feather picking.

Azodyl® is a probiotic supplement used to support kidney health in cats and dogs that have kidney disease. Azodyl® works by adding nitrogen-consuming bacteria to the intestines, which break down the increased waste products that result from the kidney’s impaired ability to eliminate them.

Enilconazole is a topical wash/dip used to treat dermatophytosis (ring worm) in dogs and sometimes in cats. Side effects are uncommon, as it is well-tolerated, but may occur in cats.

Selamectin (brand names: Revolution®, Paradyne®, Stronghold®, Chanhold®) is an avermectin antiparasitic used topically to treat parasites in dogs and cats, both on and off label. Use with caution in sick or underweight pets, or dogs with the MDR1 mutation.

Deslorelin (brand name Suprelorin-F®) is a synthetic hormonal agent used to manage adrenocortical disease in ferrets. Deslorelin has also been used as a temporary contraceptive in intact male dogs or ferrets, to suppress estrus in small mammals, to decrease reproductive behavior in pet birds, and to induce ovulation in horses. Caution when handling if pregnant or child-bearing age.

Clorazepate dipotassium is given by mouth and is used off label to treat epilepsy and various behavior disorders. Give as directed by your veterinarian. Clorazepate dipotassium should not be used in pets that are allergic to it or other benzodiazepines or in pets with significant liver disease.

Amlodipine is given by mouth and is used to treat high blood pressure in cats and dogs. Common side effects include vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, sleepiness, or gingival (gum) overgrowth. Do not use in pets that are allergic to it, are in shock, have aortic stenosis, or are in liver failure.

Erythromycin is given by mouth or injection and is used off label to treat bacterial infections and gastrointestinal motility problems in many animal species. Do not use in pets that are allergic to it, have liver disease or dysfunction, or in pets such as rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs, or hamsters.
